0 Comments 07 June 2009

Beginners to Texas Hold’em Poker will need to know the basics of the game before attempting to play it. Of the 52 community or window cards 5 of these are placed face up and in the centre. There is a dealer of cards in this game and they are dealt in a clockwise direction to each player. The dealer button called the Buck will pass from player to player after each hand.

Starting the game is when 2 cards are dealt, these 2 cards are called pocket cards, they are dealt face down on the table. However a player is allowed to look at these cards at any stage during the game. The main focus of the game is to make the best combinations. If you make the best then you will win the bet so it is vital to be able to make these combinations.

After studying your cards you can begin betting. The 2 players who are sat to the left of the dealer will make blind bets. The player who is seated right at the side of the dealer is named the small blind and the player next to him is the big blind. The player that is sitting to the left of the big blind is called the straddle. The straddle has an added advantage as he is able to place the last bet.

There is the right to raise in this game of Texas Hold’em Poker and the player sitting next to the straddle has this right to raise, call or fold like everyone else but he is allowed to re raise the fixed amount. So there you have the basics of this game, why not give it a try?
